Last week, I was talking to a friend and she told me about a BlackBerry she had lost in a taxi cab in New York. So I asked her if she could send it to me since I’m always looking for new stories about honesty. My hope is that stories about honesty and good deeds are not forgotten, but instead shared with others. We need more stories that are encouraging and inspiring.
I had just landed in New York for business. I jumped in a cab with one hand holding my cell and the other checking email. I was completely distracted. Needless to say, the cab driver was not the most friendly man and was annoyed that I was paying with my credit card. I have to for expenses you now? I tipped him well and jumped out of the cab as he was scowling at me and another passenger was waiting to jump in. Then quickly checked into my hotel.
After a long day of traveling, I unpacked and thought I would check email once more to see if anything had changed for my shoot the next day. Only problem-no blackberry. I checked everywhere and then pondered the last place I had used it-the cab! On the off chance that I left it at the hotel check-in desk, I ran down to see if my blackberry had been found. The hotel service manager said that a blackberry had been turned in and called security to bring it up for me to identify. I answered a few questions and they handed the blackberry over to me. I had recently added an I’m Honest label to the back of the blackberry, but that is not what saved me this time. The service manager told me that my cab driver had brought it back and had waited for me so that he could return it in person. There are honest people still left in the world.
