Starbucks Coffee and My Lost iPhone – Honesty Story #28

Here is another great story of honest people doing the right thing. This story takes place at a busy NYC Starbucks Coffee.
About a week ago after a long day of meetings and errand running, I came home and emptied my purse to find my iPhone missing. Having lost 3 iPhones prior to this one, I felt a little “above” the usual meltdown that accompanies what is for many, an incredibly nerve wrecking inconvenience.
I made a mental note to give AT&T a call in the morning to have them help me try to locate it remotely via “MobileMe” or shut off service to the phone to avoid any international calls to [insert any foreign country here]. I didn’t feel rushed because the realist (perhaps optimist) in me believed that chances are, my phone was lost (again), not stolen, and having done a mental checklist of all the places I’d passed through that day, I was sure the people who may have come in contact with it weren’t hard up for a new phone…(doesn’t everyone in NYC have an iPhone anyway?).
When I made it in to the office the next morning (after a solemn music-free subway ride) my faith in the good people of NYC (and their ownership of 90% of the world’s iPhones) was not amiss. I was happy to find a voicemail from my local Starbucks barista telling me that my phone had been found at the register (probably between those yummy Madeline cookies and the coffee biscuits) and would be available for pick-up from any store manager “at my earliest convenience”. Crisis averted.
Although, I never got to see if my ImHONEST label works, my confidence in the general HONESTY of people is reinforced. I believe people are HONEST and last Thursday I was proved right!

I’ve lost 3 more since this time, 1 made it back via the ImHonest sticker. It works!
