The Kindness of a Stranger – Good Deeds Story #7

This is a very encouraging story sent in by one of our readers that illustrates what a profound impact a stranger had in his life as he reached out to help him during a very pressing situation he found himself  at the time.

I was recently released from prison and state law requires me to register as an offender.  Registration requires an ID at a cost of almost $70.00.  I did not have the money to get an ID, couldn’t register, and had an appointment with my parole officer in two hours.  I was expected to have proof of registration and a $30.00 parole supervision fee with me at the time of reporting.

As you might imagine, the situation made me anxious.  If I failed to register or failed to report to my P.O., I could be sent back to prison for six months.  I called several churches to ask for help only to hear the unanswered phone ringing on the other end.  I called one last number of what I thought was a church. The voice on the other end of the line explained to me who he was and rather than hanging up, asked me about my situation.

After telling my story, the man asked me where I was calling from, and then did something I never expected – he left work, picked me up, paid for my ID and parole supervision fees, and disappeared before I had a chance to thank him.

I don’t know anything about this man except his name is Roy and he works at Faith Based Solutions in Reno NV.  And I know his kindness had an impact that will change me forever.

Lost and Found Prescription Glasses – ImHONEST Story #5

We are so grateful to the kind and honest woman who took time out of her busy schedule to report and return the prescription glasses  she found to The UPS Store. We would also like to thank Sandy, the owner of the glasses, who wrote a very gracious testimonial about the whole experience. Every time we are part of helping a lost item find its way back to its rightful owner it is an extremely rewarding experience.

While vacationing in Kansas City, I lost my prescription glasses. I was just about to replace them when I received the call from ImHONEST.com that they had been found! I was ecstatic – especially since I had let my subscription lapse a year ago! (I renewed it immediately). My customer service rep couldn’t have been kinder or more enthusiastic – he seemed genuinely imbued with the mission of helping people express their innate honesty and desire to help others recover important lost items.

The process ended up being much more difficult than we initially thought, since I was leaving town and needed my glasses at a conference I was attending. My customer service rep proceeded to demonstrate the finest, most effective customer service I have ever experienced in any business I’ve worked with – consistently gracious, perceptive and creative in his problem-solving, he succeeded in getting me my glasses across the country and on time.

As much as I am grateful that I’ve received my glasses back, I am grateful for a renewed faith in the goodness of people – through the efforts of the person who found my glasses and my customer service rep, who directed the process – and most of all for the person who created this amazing company!  I love you folks – kudos for creating positivity and good will, not to mention helping people financially!  I’m still telling everyone I can about my great experience with ImHONEST.com.
